Nearly 24 cattle are dead after a semi-truck rollover accident in Phoenix.

According to the Arizona Department of Transportation, the semi-truck was carrying 37 cattle from Nebraska to Phoenix when the driver lost control of the vehicle and hit the guard rail. This caused the large rig to flip and rollover before coming to a stop.

The driver had been behind the wheel for 17 hours when the accident occurred. The 37-year-old driver was uninjured, but 24 cattle were killed. The highway was shut down for nearly eight hours while crews and nearby ranchers cleared the scene and transferred the cattle.
