4 Vehicle Crash Injures 5 in Southwest Chicago Suburb

Wednesday, October 30, 2013
0 comments

Three people were seriously injured, and two more were also taken to local hospitals for treatment, following a four car collision that occurred last week near Palos Hills. According to authorities, the four vehicles were all traveling northbound on LaGrange Road, and crashed into each other near 107th Street.

The cause of the crash has not been determined, but authorities described it as a "bumper-to-bumper" crash. The Cook County sheriff's police towed the vehicles away, and are currently conducting an investigation. The nearby surrounding area is a forest preserve.

Car crashes in and around the Chicago area are probably more common than you may think. According to statistics from the Illinois Department of Transportation, based on data collected in 2011, there were:

281,788 crashes, which resulted in
918 deaths, and
84,172 injuries

A commonly reported statement used to ease the minds of anxious flyers, is the fact that you are more likely to die in a car accident than in a plane crash. In Illinois, and in many-- if not all-- states across the country, car accidents remain the leading killer of 15-24 year olds. Comparing the numbers against time, an average of one person dies every ten hours in a car accident within our state, and someone is injured in a vehicle accident approximately every six and a half minutes.

Obtaining help from a qualified and experienced car accident lawyer, especially when an injury has happened, is critical. If your injury causes you to delay too long, or if you fail to fully understand what you are entitled to, you may waive your rights. Also, in some cases, soft tissue damage may not fully manifest itself in full blown injuries until months later. This is especially true for neck and back injuries. If you settle too quickly, you may potentially forego receiving compensation for things like physical therapy reimbursements that may occur after the hasty settlement has been finalized.

Additionally, important evidence may be forgotten, damaged, or destroyed. Your attorney can bear the burden of handling the various components to a successful case, so that you can focus on healing. Hiring an attorney at the outset insures that nothing has been overlooked, allowing you the ability to not have to worry about the legal issues and deadlines related to your claim.

If you have been in a car accident and suffered an injury, or someone you love has been injured or killed in a vehicle accident, contact the Illinois car accident attorneys at Abels & Annes. With many years of experience in representing Chicago area car accident victims, we will work with you to make sure you understand your rights and potential remedies. We strive to help our clients obtain fair and complete compensation for the damages incurred and any injuries they have suffered. Call us today in order to schedule your initial complimentary consultation. You can reach us at (312) 924-7575 or through our website.

Motorist Killed After Vehicle Hits Fallbrook Building

Monday, September 23, 2013
0 comments

A 60-year-old man was killed in a single vehicle wreck that occurred on January 3 around 6:14 p.m. near Alturas Road on West Fallbrook Street. According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), the vehicle ran into the wall of an apartment building.

KUSI-TV reported that motorist lost control of his Volvo station wagon after he hit a dip in the road. The motorist died at the accident scene. Our law office sends our heartfelt condolences to the victim’s family members for such an upsetting loss.

There are several potential causes of car accidents in San Diego and a poorly maintained and unkempt road is one of them. If an accident is caused by an external factor such as poorly maintained roads, then parties responsible for the maintenance of these public roads can and should be held liable for the accident and damages done.

Poor road conditions exist due to several significant reasons, such as lack of maintenance, weather conditions, and normal wear and tear. Poorly built roads can lead to nighttime driving hazards, obscured views, and other hazards that contribute to fatal auto accidents. It becomes the responsibility of the road maintenance agencies to ensure that the roads are safe to commute and won’t overly disrupt the normal traffic flow in any way.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHSTA), there were more than 3,000 auto accidents in the year 2009.

It is important for the deceased victim’s family members to act quickly and seek counsel of an experienced car accident attorney who will fight on their behalf. Possible design defects or road defects (potholes, damaged road surfaces, etc.) may point blame to the road construction company, the municipal government, and/or other parties accountable.

If defective or dangerous road conditions contributed to the accident of your loved one, contact our Fallbrook fatal auto accident attorneys. Call us at (888) 233-5020 to learn more about your rights in a dangerous road accident case.

Single Vehicle Accident in Unincorporated Stickney Kills Pregnant Woman and Unborn Child

Friday, June 7, 2013
0 comments

A single vehicle crash that occurred recently in unicorporated Stickney has left a 24-year-old woman and the unborn child she was carrying dead, it is being reported.

According to a spokesman for the Cook County Sheriff's department, the accident occurred on the 4900 block of South Central Avenue at approximately 7:40 in the evening, on March 22. The woman was travelling northbound on Central Avenue in her Pontiac G6 when she hit a mailbox on the northeast side of the street, which caused her vehicle to spin around and hit a metal pole located on the same corner.

The woman and her unborn child were pronounced dead at about 8:30 p.m. at Loyola University Medical Center, according to the Cook County medical examiner's office.

Officials said that an accident reconstruction team is investigating the crash, and that no one else was in the vehicle.

Tragically, fatal one car accidents such as this one occur much too frequently within the greater Chicago area. The causes of these single vehicle collisions can include anything from a malfunctioning motor vehicle, unexpected obstructions in the roadway, inclement weather conditions, and even over-correcting one's vehicle in order to avoid another crash. Additionally, a distracted driver or otherwise impaired motorist can also be the cause of these types of accidents.

For example, in 2011 alone, across the State of Illinois, more than half of the 918 fatal traffic collisions involved only one motor vehicle. Data from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration suggests that a large proportion of those one-car traffic accidents occur in larger urban areas like Chicago.

If you were injured in a car accident, you should contact a car accident lawyer in order to discuss your rights and remedies. You might be able to recover damages from the negligent motorist related to the cost of your medical care, which can include medical bills, physical therapy, and lost wages from work, as well as for any resulting disability. Additionally recoverable expenses can include things such as pain and suffering, funeral expenses, and more.

Posted On: July 7, 2011 by Ross Jurewitz

At least two people were killed in a tragic single-vehicle rollover that occurred on July 4, 2011, around 9:45 a.m. on the 60 Freeway (SR-60) near Pyrite Street in Glen Avon, just west of Riverside. According to the responding California Highway Patrol officers, a silver-colored SUV rolled over several times and landed back on its wheels.

Seven people were transported to a nearby hospital to receive treatment for the injuries. There were two fatalities at the scene.

Riverside County Coroner's office is investigating to determine the exact cause of SUV rollover. If it is found that the SUV driver lost control of the vehicle due to a mechanical failure, then the automaker will be held for victims’ wrongful death and injuries suffered by others. However, if unmaintained road is found to be reason for the rollover, the road maintenance authorities may be held liable for the crash.

The victims’ family members should seek counsel from Riverside County highway accident attorney to obtain compensation to cover funeral and burial costs, loss of future income, loss of love and companionship, and other accident-related expenses. The injured victims are also eligible to obtain compensation to cover treatment, medical, and hospital costs.

Vehicle Ejections Possible in Kansas City Crashes if Seat Belts aren’t in Use

Friday, June 3, 2011
0 comments

At Kansas City Accident Injury Attorneys, we know that car accidents in Kansas City can end with a wide variety of results and consequences, but this much is certain.  If you’re not wearing a seat belt, you life is on the  line.  We see dangerous multi-car crashes and head on collisions more than we would like to and one of the first things that comes up is whether or not the drivers and/or passengers were wearing a seat belt.

Last week in Cincinnati, OH.,  one person was killed and two others were seriously injured after a collision caused three people to be ejected from a vehicle.  The fatal crash happened when the driver lost control of a car, went off the road and hit a tree.  The crash caused three people to be thrown from the back of the truck.  One of the victims was thrown from the back seat onto the road and hit by two other vehicles.  The other two ejected passengers suffered serious injuries but refused medical treatment.  None of them were wearing a seat belt.

Police believe the driver of the vehicle was speeding.

Our experienced Kansas City Auto Injury Lawyers are deeply saddened by the death in this tragic accident and hope the surviving victims make a full recovery.  We know that nothing is 100% certain to protect you if you’re involved in a severe motor vehicle collision but we have seen enough accidents to know that you’re more likely to survive a crash if you are wearing a seat belt.  Every year, over 40,000 people die in car accidents, many of them right here in Kansas and Missouri.  It may not be an exact science but numbers indicate that half of those lives could be saved by simply buckling up.  That’s over 20,000 lives that can be saved just by buckling up.

Remember to follow the rules of the road.  Slow down and get to where you’re going safely.  Help save lives on Kansas and Missouri roads and highways.

If you or someone you love has suffered a serious injury in an auto accident in Kansas or Missouri, you may be entitled to compensation.  Call experienced Kansas City Personal Injury Attorney James Roswold.  With over 15 years of experience in Auto Injury Accidents, we may be able to help you and your family through this difficult time.

2 injured in Illinois car accident caused by vehicle crossing the center line

Thursday, May 26, 2011
0 comments

An Illinois motor vehicle collision that occurred in the central eastern part of the state has resulted in injuries and the hospitalization of two motorists, according to commercial-news.com. The collision took place last Wednesday in the area of Illinois Route 1 and Country Rd. 550, just North of a little town called Olivet.

The incident occurred around 8:38 PM as the two drivers were headed in opposite directions on Illinois Route 1. The driver of a Ford station wagon traveling northbound crossed the centerline and struck a southbound Dodge.

Both drivers had to be extricated from their respective vehicles, and both were wearing seatbelts.

The crash investigation was handled by the Illinois state police. The driver of the station wagon was cited for improper lane usage, and surprisingly the driver of the Dodge vehicle (that was not at fault in the accident) was ticketed for driving under the influence. As you would guess, it is usually the DUI driver that crosses the centerline and causes the accident.

Both motorists were taken by Georgetown ambulance to the Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, and both remained hospitalized as of last Thursday.

It not been reported if an Illinois injury attorney is involved in the case or if a civil lawsuit has been filed.

Driver Killed in Single Vehicle Rollover Accident in Mission, Kansas

Wednesday, May 18, 2011
1 comments

There are many causes for car accidents.  Distracted driving and failure to abide by traffic laws are pretty high on the list.  The good news is these serious injury accidents can be prevented as long as Kansas and Missouri motorists are paying attention not only to what is going on around them, but by making sure they are following the posted speed limits.  When a driver fails to do this– the unfortunate consequence, sadly, is often a serious injury or fatal rollover car accident.

A tragic example happened over the weekend, when a 53 year-old woman was killed in a single vehicle accident in Mission, Kansas on Sunday.  The fatal rollover crash happened near the northbound Metcalf Avenue onto Shawnee Mission Parkway.  According to Police, the driver of the vehicle, lost control of the pick-up coming off the exit ramp.  Driving too fast is believed to be the cause of the accident.  A passenger in the truck was not injured in the fatal crash.

Driving can sometimes become a habit.  You take the same route over and over and it becomes a routine.  However, it is still important to make sure you are following the traffic laws, especially speed limits.  There are so many things that can go wrong not only on the road but with your vehicle.  The location where this accident happened can be a tricky exit and as this tragic crash shows– if you’re not taking your time, bad things can and probably will happen.

Our experienced Kansas City Auto Accident Lawyers know that single vehicle crashes can be just as dangerous as accidents involving other vehicles.  We’d like to express our deepest sympathies to the friends and family of the victim in this tragic accident.  We hope motorists in Kansas and Missouri use this as an example as to what can happen when the rules of the road aren’t properly followed.

If you or someone you love has suffered a serious injury in an auto accident in Kansas or Missouri, call experienced Kansas City Personal Injury Lawyers James Roswold and Heather Lottman.  With over 15 years of experience in Auto Injury Accidents, we might be able to help you through a stressful time.

One person was killed Wednesday in a single vehicle crash in Kansas City, Kansas.  According to police investigating the crash, it happened around 2 p.m at 98th street and State Avenue in KCK.

At Roswold Law Group, we are already concerned about the alarming number of auto accidents this year.  We’ve seen enough car accidents to know that they usually end up with the same results: serious injury for sure, if not death.  The frustrating problem we have with these accidents is they can very easily be prevented just by simply giving the road your full and undivided attention.

A single vehicle auto accident on I-70 in Kansas City, Missouri is an example of how early morning driving can be dangerous if you’re not careful.  A driver suffered critical injuries in an auto injury accident near 27th street in Kansas City, Missouri on Sunday.  Police say the driver drove off the road and crashed.  So far, there is no cause of accident, nor any indication if alcohol or drowsy driving was a factor in the Kansas City auto injury accident.

We would like to express our deepest sympathies to the victim in this tragic accident and hope they are able to recover from their injuries.  As experienced Kansas City Auto Injury Attorneys we would like to encourage all motorists to continue to practice safe and attentive driving techniques in order to prevent serious injury accidents in Kansas City.  If you were to ask any police officer they will tell you the same thing: Distracted driving is the number one cause of car crashes.

Distracted driving includes anything that takes your focus off the road.  It includes, but is not limited to cell phone usage, messing with your CD collection and even too much conversation with passengers.

If you or someone you love has suffered a serious injury in an accident in Kansas or Missouri, you may be entitled to compensation for your losses.  Call the experienced Kansas City Personal Injury Lawyers of Roswold Law Group.  With over 15 years of experience in Auto Injury Accidents, we may be able to help you and your family get through this difficult time.

Church Deacon Killed after Crashing into another Vehicle

A church deacon was killed after he lost control of his vehicle and crashed into another vehicle. The other vehicle was at a stop light waiting to make a left turn. Two children inside the vehicle were seriously injured. The parents escaped the accident without sustaining any injuries, reports a NY Car Accident Lawyer. One of the children, an 8-year old, was airlifted to a hospital, while the other, a 7-year old, was taken to a nearby hospital in an ambulance. The deacon was taken to the hospital where he later died.
The church deacon, a member of a Baptist church, was loved and respected in the community. The details surrounding the accident are sparse. Apparently, the deacon lost control of his vehicle, 2003 Ford Focus, and struck a utility pole. This caused the vehicle to become airborne and hit the other vehicle, an SUV, stated a New York Injury Lawyer. The deacon died from injuries sustained during the accident.
The children were secured in child safety seats which may have prevented more severe injuries. When paramedics arrived on the scene, one of the children was not breathing, however. Both were unconscious and stuck underneath the Ford Focus which had to be pried from the SUV. It is unclear how the deacon lost control of the vehicle, noted a New York Vehicle Accident Lawyer.
Many in the deacon's congregation say the deacon will be missed. He was an asset to the members of the church and always tried to show people how to live a good life, reported a New York Injury Lawyer. It is unclear who the deacon's replacement in the church will be. Church members have been seeking solace at the church during their time of mourning.
Law enforcement officials are still investigating the cause of the accident. A medical examiner's report and other investigative documentation should help fill in any missing details. It is unknown if the deacon suffered from any health conditions which may have contributed to the accident. The deacon was the only passenger in his vehicle at the time of this tragic accident.

A man died recently after his car ended up in a ditch after hitting a tree. After the man hit the tree, he tried to turn the car around, but it got stuck in a ditch. The man then decided to go for help. He collapsed and died in a field close to the car, reports New York Car Accident Attorney. The official cause of death is currently unknown. Law enforcement officials should learn more when the medical examiner’s report is complete.
It is unknown whether the man suffered from health issues that led to his death or if he injured himself while trying to move the car. Getting a car out of a ditch is very difficult, especially if the driver is alone, said a New York City Injury Lawyer. There is no evidence the man was with anyone when the accident occurred.
How the man lost control of his car is not known to police at this time. The vehicle may have stopped working properly while the driver was operating it or the driver may have made an error while driving. Law enforcement will have to inspect the vehicle to determine if the vehicle was malfunctioning at the time.
The events that occurred between the time the man left his car and when he entered the field and collapsed are also unknown. Law enforcement officials are investigating by gathering evidence at the scene, completing an autopsy and trying to find witnesses, reported a Manhattan Auto Accident Lawyer. It is unclear if the man knew where he was when his vehicle hit a tree and ended up in a ditch. With so many unanswered questions, law enforcement officials will have to do their best to reconstruct the events that occurred that night.
The man apparently died very early Saturday morning, but his body was not discovered until Saturday afternoon, tells a New York Injury Lawyer. It is unclear when law enforcement found the man's car and when they decided to search the field for evidence. It is not known who discovered the man's body and how long it took for the man's body to be reported to the police.

A 43-year old man was killed in a car accident when he failed to stop his vehicle at a stop sign.

One of two men involved in a car accident died after suffering serious head injury. He was not wearing a seatbelt which might have saved his life, claims a NY Injury Lawyer. The deceased man was sitting in the passenger seat when the accident happened. The driver survived, but broke both of his legs. He was taken to the hospital and treated. Both men may have been under the influence of drugs and alcohol at the time of the accident.
The man that died was a 19-year old from a small town in upstate New York called Pawling. He was a graduate of Pawling High School. The driver was from Westchester County, New York. The car accident occurred after 2am. The driver lost control of the car and it overturned after crossing the highway median, explained a NY City Auto Accident Lawyer. Everyone in the small town of Pawling is saddened that one of its residents was killed in a tragic accident. The man participated in sports while in high school and was well-liked.
It was unclear whether the man driving the 1991 BMW 318 was wearing a seatbelt. Law enforcement officials believe that the driver lost control by not being able to keep the car to the right before it overturned. A full medical and toxicology report will determine if drugs and alcohol played a role in the accident, stated a NY City Car Accident Lawyer. If drugs and alcohol did play a role, the driver may face criminal charges.
Funeral arrangements for the man have not been finalized yet. It is unclear whether the driver will face charges for the man's death or if the incident will be ruled an accident. Law enforcement officials are investigating the incident to determine if the driver was at fault and how much drugs or alcohol played a part in causing the man’s death, says a NY Injury Lawyer.
The accident took place in Duchess County and is being investigated by the Duchess County Sheriff's Office Crash Investigation Unit and STOP-DWI Patrol. Between these two agencies, the details surrounding this unfortunate accident will hopefully be discovered.
