Hey Kansas City– Who is Better Behind the Wheel? Men or Women?

Who is the better driver?  Depends on who you ask, right?  Men will say men and women of course will defend the fairer sex.  And ancient battle of the sexes, which has gone on for centuries, also carries on onto the roads of Kansas and Missouri.  So, who is the better drivers and who are you safest with?– Men or Women? Not surprisingly, the answer really depends on the individual behind the wheel.  However, an article in the New York Times called “Why You’d Rather Ride With a Woman Than a Man,” by Freakanomics blogger Eric A. Morris suggests that despite differences around the world, on the whole you’re better off with a woman behind the wheel. The reason is simple– men are more likely to ignore traffic laws.

According the article, men are more prone to aggressive driving techniques, such as obscene gestures, verbal abuse and as a result are more likely to be involved in serious injury automobile accidents.

Our experienced Kansas City Auto Injury Attorneys hope that no matter if you are a man or a woman you let your driving do the bragging.  You can believe the stats or you can make your own luck.  Men and woman can each avoid auto injury accidents by simply following the same rules we’ve all been taught since Driver’s Education.  Slow down.  Avoid distractions.  Keep your eyes on the road.  Make complete stops.  Use your turn signals.  It’s as easy as it sounds.

We encourage all motorists in Kansas and Missouri to practice safe and attentive driving techniques and help keep our roads safe for everyone. Drive Safe. Drive Smart.

Police Cruiser Hits Woman in Wheel Chair; Kansas City Pedestrian Safety a Concern

There are many reasons serious auto injury accidents happen, but distracted driving continues to be one of the most common causes of serious injury accidents.  If motorists aren’t paying attention, it becomes hard to spot the little obstacles that can cause accidents such as pedestrians and bicyclists.  The important thing to remember is that anyone can be guilty of distracted driving and if driving is part of your job– whether you are a delivery driver– or, as in this case, a police officer– paying attention is absolutely crucial as you can often be distracted maybe a little more easily.

Take this case that happened in Dayton, Ohio.  A 50 year-old woman in a wheelchair was struck by a vehicle while crossing a street.  Pedestrian accidents are not uncommon but what makes this pedestrian injury accident different was that the woman was hit by a police cruiser.  According to reports from the scene, the officer was responding to a non-emergency near by.  He was traveling at a normal rate of speed but did not have his sirens or lights on.  The woman suffered serious injuries that have been down graded to non-life threatening injuries.  The officer involved in the crash was shake up but is okay.

The real tragedy here is that accidents like this one can be avoided.  Distracted Driving is very dangerous and many people don’t realize how distracted they can get while driving.  Anything you do that takes your eyes off the road is an example of dangerous driving.  This includes cell phone talking and texting and even casual conversation with passengers.

The experienced Kansas City Personal Injury Attorneys of Roswold Law Group are happy to hear that the victims are expected to be okay but this is surely an especially frightening situation.  Pedestrians have rights when they are involved in an accident.  This is a rare situation but just goes to show that everyone, including emergency crews such as police officers and ambulance drivers, needs to use attentive and safe driving techniques.  As we said before, delivery drivers or police officers, like in this case can often become distracted looking for a suspect or just their destination.  Keep your eyes on the road and help keep the roads safe for everyone.

If you or someone you love has suffered a serious injury in a bicycle or pedestrian accident in an automobile, you may be entitled to compensation for your losses, including lost wages, medical bills and even legal fees.  Don’t delay, call the experienced Kansas City Auto Accident and Injury Lawyers of Roswold Law Group.  With over 15 years of experience in Auto Injury Accident including bicycle and pedestrian injury cases, we may be able to help you and your family get through this difficult time.
