An absolutely tragic accident occurred on Thursday evening, which left one person dead and four others critically injured. The accident took place on the Far North Side of Chicago, in the West Rogers Park neighborhood, on the 2900 block of West Howard Street, at the Evanston border.

Reportedly, at least five ambulances were sent to the scene of the crash, according to a media source. Fire officials reported that the injured individuals were taken to Lutheran General Hospital, Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center and Saint Francis Hospital in Evanston.

The Chicago Tribune reported the crash before all the details were available, but provided one minute and thirty seconds of un-narrated video footage. The footage shows a midsized sedan which looks like it is partially wrapped around a tree, particurlarly in the area where the driver's seat used to be. Additionally, the footage captures the car encircled with police tape, with no other cars nearby, it thus appears to have been a single car crash.

Three Injured In North San Diego County Head-On Crash

Three people in their early 30s were injured in a Palomar head-on car crash that occurred on June 11, 2011, around 3:10 p.m. at Lilac Road and Highway 76 (SR-76). According to Pala Fire Assistant Chief David Osuna, the collision involved two medium-sized sedans.

The injured victims were immediately transported to Palomar Medical Center for treatment.

The cause of the head-on accident is under investigation. It would be interesting for the investigating officers to determine whether any of the drivers were under the influence of alcohol or any other drug. Teenager Killed In Mojave Desert Car Accident on I-15 North

19-year-old Bianca Mathew was killed in a freeway car accident that occurred on May 20, 2011, around 1:10 a.m. deep in the Mojave Desert. According to the responding California Highway Patrol Officers, Mathew was a backseat passenger in a blue 2006 Honda Odyssey that rear-ended an International big rig on the northbound lanes at Mountain Pass.

A serious two-car head-on accident in Riverside County occurred on April 19, 2011, around 5:24 p.m at Reche Canyon Road and Arroyo Drive in Moreno Valley. According to the information available,, a gray Honda collided with a green Toyota Camry due to unknown reasons.

Car crash on North Shore of Chicago kills 1, critically injures another

An Illinois auto accident in suburban Northfield has claimed the life of a 22-year-old Chicago woman, Winnetka Talk is reporting. Another person was seriously injured in the collision that occurred on Friday.

The accident occurred at 2220 Willow Road. Northfield police are stating that the woman was eastbound on Willow when she crossed the center line for unknown reasons and struck a westbound driver head-on.

The woman was taken by ambulance to Evanston Hospital and pronounced dead hours later. The driver of the other vehicle, a 63 year old Glenview man, was also taken to Evanston Hospital. He was in critical condition.

The Northfield Police Department is being assisted by the Major Crash Assistance Team, which is a joint operation run by several suburban departments. The collision is still under investigation and it has not yet been reported if drugs or alcohol played a role.

The Glenview Patch is reporting that the accident occurred around 8 pm and that Willow Road remained closed due to the accident late into the night.

Another Near Terrifying North Carolina Auto Accident – A Tractor-Trailer Blasts through Guardrail and Smashes a Car

Horrifying Video of Near-Fatal North Carolina Car Accident Becomes YouTube Super Hit

Rider Killed in Mint Hill, North Carolina Motorcycle Accident

Motorcyclist Richard Cullinan was killed in a Mint Hill, North Carolina traffic accident on Thursday. Police say that the 41-year-old motorcyclist was approaching the Evans Road intersection on NC 51 when a Ford Windstar van pulled into his path in an attempt to turn left. Cullinan, who lost control of his bike, was thrown into the air before crashing into a Jeep Cherokee. He was pronounced dead at the Mint Hill motorcycle crash site.

Speed doesn’t appear to be a cause of the crash, but the authorities are continuing to investigate what happened. Depending on the evidence, criminal charges may be filed against at least one of the drivers. That said, regardless of whether a criminal case is pursued, Cullinan’s loved ones may have grounds for filing a Mecklenburg County wrongful death case against any responsible parties.

A Sparta man was killed in a recent North Carolina truck crash on NC 88. Police say that the truck driver, Richard Stroud struck a 2003 Chevrolet pickup in a head-on collision after losing control of his 2005 Kenworth tractor-trailer. Richard Dean Fender, who was driving the pickup, ended up pinned to his auto. It took several hours to move the semi-truck. Trucker Richard Stroud is charged with misdemeanor death by vehicle.

Distracted Driving Cited As Alleged Cause of Charlotte, North Carolina Car Accident that Killed Father and Daughter

18-year-old Clemmons resident Sharai Marie Bauer has been charged with misdemeanor death by vehicle over her alleged involvement in a Charlotte, North Carolina car accident that killed 67-year-old Ji Sheng Lu and his 37-year-old daughter Jing Lu. Jing’s son, age 1, survived the crash with serious injuries.

According to the Observer, the Lu family was walking in the direction of traffic near a street curb on February 9 when they were allegedly struck by the vehicle that Bauer was driving. Ji Sheng Lu died at the scene, while Jing Lu was pronounced dead several hours later at Carolinas Medical Center.

It is suspected that the teen driver became distracted when an object fell to the floor of her vehicle and she bent down to pick it up. Police are also trying to determine whether Bauer was speeding.

Neighbors in the area where the crash happened have come forward to complain that it is not uncommon for vehicles to speed through and even run the stop sign. They have reportedly asked the city of for speed bumps. In 2009, they request a 4-way-stop sign some 50 yards from where last Wednesday’s Charlotte, North Carolina pedestrian accident took place. CDOT says that it has been waiting for a majority of the neighbors to sign a petition, which it has yet to receive back.

Couple Fitted with Prosthetic Legs Following Deadly North Carolina Motorcycle Crash

According to the Hickory Daily Record, the couple that survived a 2009 Catawba motorcycle accident must now use prosthetic legs. Roger and Cindi Seibers were injured on September 4, 2009.

The Dodge truck that struck the couple had crossed the center line. The impact of the crash caused the Seibers’ motorcycle to travel 131 feet. While Cindi, 49, was tossed into the underbrush, Roger, 54, ended up pinned under his motorcycle.

In addition to their severe leg injuries, Cindi lost broke her neck. Roger had a compound fracture of his femur and was burned to the bone by his bike's hot tailpipe.

The couple was hospitalized for two months, and they were initially confined to wheelchairs. Cindi also required in-home nursing care for half a year. The Catawba County motorcycle accident has drastically altered the couple's previously active lifestyle.

Police are still investigating the Catawba traffic crash. The Seibers are hoping that the driver comes forward.

Lawmakers Deliberate Whether to Step Up the Fight Against North Carolina Distracted Driving Crashes with a Ban on Handheld Cell Devices

State lawmakers have been debating whether to only allow the use of hands-free cell phones while driving. The government leaders are trying to decide whether enforcement and safety is more important than personal freedoms. The chief bill calling for this ban is Rep. Garland Pierce of Scotland County. Hopefully, if the measure passes, the prohibition would save some more lives while decreasing the number of North Carolina car crashes that occur each year.

Currently, there is a statewide ban on texting while driving. While school bus drivers and drivers under the age 18 are not allowed to talk on a cell phone at all, other adult drivers can use any type of cell phone while driving.

20-Year-Old Motorist Accused of Causing Deadly North Carolina Wrong-Way Driving Accident is Charged with Underage Drinking While Driving

Police have charged Ian Michael Smith in the North Carolina car accident that killed two people on Friday with Driving After Consuming Alcohol while under the age of 21and Driving While Impaired. Other criminal charges are likely. The names of the two people that died are Marcial Aragon Colmillo and Juan Carlos Cortes.

According to Greensboro Police, a little after 2am, a police officer saw a Mitsubishi Eclipse driving the wrong way up a road. The cop tried to stop the vehicle, which was driven by Smith, but it sped away. The police officer later spotted the car at a North Carolina traffic crash site where it had been involved in a collision with a 1995 Chevrolet truck that was carrying the two victims and another person.
